Evidence Gap Map on forced labour

Overview

The Evidence Gap Map (EGM) is a visual tool that organizes and presents existing research evidence on a specific area—in this case, forced labour and human trafficking. It identifies where significant data and research are available and, more importantly, where critical gaps exist. This enables stakeholders to see at a glance the areas that are well-studied and those that are not, facilitating more targeted research and policy interventions.
The map categorizes information along two dimensions: interventions and outcomes. For each intervention category, the corresponding research outcomes are plotted on the map. Each cell in the map may contain dots or symbols that indicate the presence of studies and their results. This allows users to quickly assess which interventions have been studied and which outcomes have been measured, highlighting both clustered areas of research and sparse ones.
