Room documents on Child Labour

Overview

Room documents from the International Conference of Labour Statisticians (ICLS) can serve as valuable background information regarding technical aspects of child labour and forced labour. We suggest utilizing these documents to gain insights into the intricate technical discussions surrounding these topics, enabling a deeper understanding of the complexities and challenges involved in addressing these critical issues.

The existing international standards on child labour statistics were adopted in 2008 (18thICLS) based, at the time, on the latest concepts and definition regarding statistics of the economically active population, employment, unemployment and underemployment (13th ICLS). These concepts and definitions have since been replaced with new international standards on statistics of work, employment and labour underutilization (19th ICLS) concerning statistics of child labour in line with the 19th ICLS Resolution concerning statistics of work, employment and labour utilization

The purpose of the present room document is to examine the implications of the new statistical standards on work and employment, on those of child labour.
